The Jealousy Train and How to Cure it

Overcoming Jealousy

Jealousy is inevitable and happens in all relationships, near or far. In long distance relationships this can be a greater factor due to all the freedom that is given from one another. Trust is one of the most important elements to making it work and jealousy has to have some regulation.

Here are some of my tips on how to control it:

  • Ask for reassurance: It’s ok if you’re feeling a little insecure at times, it happens to everyone. Try not to make accusations and talk it out.
  • Set up Skype Dates: Don’t make distance your enemy when it comes to fighting jealousy. Set up phone calls or Skype dates that give you both something to look forward to.
  • Confirm Commitment: To avoid misunderstandings (and fights) make sure you’re both on the same page on the status of your relationship.
  • Don’t let your imagination get the best of you: When your loved one speaks about someone at work, don’t put your imagination on overdrive. Extreme possessiveness can end your relationship quickly.

  1. I love this blog! I have been in a long distance relationship for almost 5 years. This blog definitely has some great advice. He and I use Skype every single day. I honestly don’t know what we would do if it weren’t for Skype! Keep up the great work!
