This wouldn’t be a true long-distance blog if I didn’t mention one of the most prominent loves overseas. Whether it is your boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife in the military, loving someone abroad while they are in bootcamp or stationed across the globe, is not easy. The worry one feels of not knowing if they are ok, if they’ve eaten properly that day, if they’ve gotten at least a couple hours of rest, is heart-wrenching. But you are not alone.
Here are some of my tips:
- Stay Positive: Don’t dwell in the negative rather embrace the love you have.
- Never Stop Writing: Even if you get upset with your current situation, keep sending messages to your loved one. It means so much to them.
- Stay Busy: Take advantage of your time, have fun and before you know it, your loved one will be back.
- Find a Support Team: Surround yourself with people who understand your situation, not those who judge it. There’s plenty of online communities that will make you feel connected and at peace with your situation. Here’s an example of one: TrueMilitary where you can share your stories and get feedback.
